Questions for Further Study
Getting to Know YOU
1. Some say the faith life is easy-believe-ism. They’ve obviously never tried it! How have you fought the faith life in past experiences? How did God show Himself strong in that situation?
2. David shows us its OK to weep and be sorrowful (for a time). David then, shows us how to “encourage ourselves in the Lord” and get up from our bed of sorrow and move towards victory. How have you learned to “encourage yourself in the Lord” in past experiences? If you have never known how to overcome things that come against you, how did that struggle make you feel? How can you change that in future battles of life?
Passage to Ponder
1.Read Psalm 42:1-8. What are some ways in this passage, David overcomes his sorrow and dryness in His relationship with his God?
Show Me the Way
1. Attitude is everything. What was David’s attitude though the varying steps of his recovery? What was his attitude towards others? How might you learn from David in present and future situations and adversity?
2. What has been your one big takeaway in this series of messages so far?
